War in Love

a story about a man, a woman, and their histories met

14. After the Battle

The war ended.
Not with peace

but with knowing.

The boy stopped asking.
The girl stopped tending.

And yet
this was not the end.

Because when the fighting stops,
what remains is not quietness.
It is rawness beneath silence.

No armour.
No strategy.
No hope disguised as effort.

After the battle, the pain deepens.

Longing no longer rushes toward fantasy.
Sadness no longer begs to be saved.
Loneliness no longer hides behind resilience.

Everything stands still
and hurts exactly where it is.

There is nothing left to prove.

This is the deeper battle.

The ache without illusion.
The tenderness without promise.
The desire without a place to go.

Mourning without fantasy.
Loving without direction.

After the battle,
there is no victory.

Only love, standing naked,

before reality.
