Love Returns
life unfolding
Earthy Desire
The relationship one has with Earth.
Untouched for ten years
It awakened at the first shovel's sharp.
Coarse, warm, pure, rich,
Deliciously nourishing,
Devastatingly undiscriminative.
Once more it received,
The seeds I gave, the bulbs I laid
The same way it had.
For years, silently it took in
seeds no one intended,
leaves dropped by indifferent wind,
roots spread from wandering roots.
Not one rejection,
Absorbed in its worm
Turned compost to waiting nourishment.
When I turned over the surface,
The inside opened showing everything it kept.
It sighed,
the end of longing.
